Say hello to Match Events in Spond

Match events introduce a new, general concept in Spond: Event types. This initial release includes two types: Home match and Away match, bringing additional match-specific capabilities: Set team colors, capture and share scores, receive match notifications, set full time, and export season scores as spreadsheet.

The main purposes of the pilot is to validate general concepts, collaborate with clubs to plan next steps, as well as getting early detection of bugs and usability issues.

For the Spond team, this pilot also marks the first, but very important step to offer fully automated fixture integrations.

How the pilot works

The pilot is a closed beta test distributed to selected clubs, by Spond invitation only. Each participating club can enable match events for up to 10 groups.

In order to use Match events, the following conditions apply:

  • Match events are enabled for given group (More details below)

  • User is group admin (Is allowed to create events)

  • Group activity type = Football

  • Group admin is using latest version of Spond app

Please note that members and guardians will be automatically prompted to update, and there should be no need to inform these participants about the pilot, as such.

Enabling Match events for your group

Match events are enabled on a per group basis, by Spond staff. To activate, Spond needs the group IDs for each group you want to include in the pilot.

To find and submit your group IDs, follow this guide:

Step 1: Find group ID

Locate group ID via Spond Club: First, navigate to the desired group. Then, in the URL, the group ID is the text that comes after ...departments/groups/

or use Spond Web App: If you are member of the group yourself, you can also find same ID using the Spond Web app:

Step 2: Register group for participation in pilot

Click button below to register groups. Keep your group ID ready.

Step 3: Wait for email about activation for your submitted groups

Just sit back&wait. You will receive an email when your groups can start testing. This email will include instructions on how to update the app to latest version, so please forward it to your teams as you see fit.

Participation requests are managed on the fly and we will do our best to enable feature within 24 hours (at the latest).

Limitations of pilot version

  • Match events can only be created and edited in the Spond mobile apps. The web app works as normal, but group admins will need to use their phone to edit event settings

  • Export of match results only available in Spond mobile apps
