You can now differentiate your matches from the rest of your events in the Spond App with our latest feature. By using the Match Events feature, it's easier to tell your matches apart from other events, and we have added additional functionality to help you organise your fixtures.

Here's what you can do with Match Events:

  • Match type: Whether it's home, away, a tournament, or just a friendly.

  • Name the other team: So your players know who you're up against.

  • Team colours: You can pick colours for both your team and the opposition.

  • Results: Add and update the result, during and after the match.

  • Player of the match: Create a poll to select a player of the match

When you're ready to set up a new event, once you've chosen the right group and people you want to invite, just tap 'Match' at the top of the page:

Player of the match poll

You can now create a poll to name a player of the match, all within your match event screen. This feature is optional, and the poll can only be created by an admin in the group.

Set and share match results

Add and update the result, both during and after a match. Now you can also share the result outside of Spond, to celebrate the effort with others.

You easily update the score by pressing "update scores", and when the match is done you can mark it as "full time".

This will enable a push message to members and/or guardians in the group, so they can participate in the celebration and share the effort. To avoid this push message, scores can be hidden from members by toggling "Make scores visible to members", and set match to full time below. This will also hide the sharing functionality.

It is only group admins that can set the score, and set the match as full time.

Scores can always be edited, even if match is set to full time. Simply remove full time toggle, edit the scores and mark it as full time again. Note that this will generate a new message to members if scores are set to visible.
