Connect a domain name to your Spond Club website

Updated over a week ago

This article provides guidance on how to connect a domain name to your Spond Club website, enabling a professional and recognisable online presence for your club and brand.

Default Domain

In the left sidebar, under Website and the Admin panel option, you’ll find the Domain tab. Here, the club’s URL address is displayed, which is a default domain provided by Spond. By default, this address will consist of the club’s name followed by .spond.club.

For example, if the club’s name is “Sporty,” the site’s address will be https://sporty.spond.club.

Set Up a Custom Domain

If you already have a domain managed by an external provider, you can connect it to your Spond club site.

💡 Tip! Before You Start

  • Ensure you have access to your domain’s control panel or DNS settings. We’ll provide the necessary details, but you or your domain provider (such as GoDaddy or Namecheap) will need to make the actual changes.

  • Please note that DNS propagation can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 72 hours before all visitors see the new Spond website when they visit your domain.

How to Add Your Own Domain:

  1. From the side menu in Spond Club, click WebsiteAdmin panel

  2. In the Domain tab, you’ll see the field “Domain

  3. Type or paste the web address of your domain

  4. Then click Connect domain in the bottom right corner

After clicking Connect domain, you will see the DNS settings that need to be added with your domain provider:

  5. Go to your domain provider’s control panel and enter the DNS settings

  6. Once step 5 is completed, return to the domain settings in Spond Club and click Activate domain.

💡 The club must click “Activate domain”. The status will not update automatically from pending to approved.

On your provider’s domain page, you’ll need to add the DNS records (type, name, and content). You won’t receive a notification when your domain provider approves the change, so check back on this page. Once the status changes from “pending” to “approved,” click Activate Domain at the bottom right.

⚠️ NOTE! Connecting to the domain may result in a loss of access to the current website – please verify this with your domain registrar.
