Integration of Google Analytics and SEO on the club’s website
Updated over a month ago

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a way to make your website appear higher in search results, such as on Google. By using the right words, descriptions, and images on the site, your club can reach more people who are interested in what you do.

You can also connect the website to Google Analytics to see important statistics, such as how many people visit the site, what they click on, and which pages are most popular. This information helps the club improve the website and make it more engaging for visitors.

Connect the club’s website to Google Analytics

  1. From the dashboard in your club’s Spond Club profile, click on Website

  2. Admin panel

  3. In the General tab, you will find the option Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

  4. In the field below, enter your Google Analytics ID/tag ID

  5. Click Save at the bottom right

In this link, you can read about how to create a Google Analytics account, a property, and how to add a data stream.

What is Google Analytics, a property, and a data stream?

Google Analytics is a tool that helps you track how visitors use your website or app. It provides valuable insights into visitor numbers, user behaviour, and traffic sources.

A property in Google Analytics is a space where data from a website or app is collected and tracked. It keeps track of things like visitor numbers, clicks, and how long users stay on the site. If you have multiple websites, you can create separate properties to track them individually.

A data stream is the source of the information collected in a property. It’s the connection between the website/app and Google Analytics, sending data about how visitors are using the site in real-time. For each property, you can have one or more data streams, such as one for the website and one for the app.

Advanced Settings / SEO Optimisation When Creating Pages

When creating a new page for the club’s website, you will find an option called Advanced Settings further up the page.

In the advanced settings, you can customise how the webpage appears in Google search results.

  • Title: This field is used to set the title that appears in the search result.

  • Description: A short description that appears under the title in the search result. It provides a summary of what the page or article is about.

  • Image URL: This field is used to add a URL for an image that will be displayed instead of the default article image when the page appears in the search results.

⚠️ NOTE! It usually takes up to 3 weeks for your page to appear in Google’s search results. This is because Google needs to index your page, which can take time as they regularly scan millions of websites across the internet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t my page appear in Google’s search results when I search for it?

It can take up to 3 weeks for a new or updated page to appear in Google’s search results. This is due to Google’s indexing process, where their automated tool, known as Googlebot, scans and analyses the content of web pages. Googlebot regularly visits websites to identify new or updated content, which is then added to Google’s search index.

The reason this takes time is that Google continuously indexes millions of pages, and the prioritisation of which pages get indexed quickly can depend on various factors, such as the website’s popularity, structure, and content quality. Once Googlebot detects and analyses your page, it will be added to the search index, but the process can take time due to the large volume of data being processed.

Google doesn’t have a fixed timeframe for when a page will be indexed, but it’s common for new pages to start appearing in search results within 3 weeks after being published.
