A Step-by-Step Guide to Integrating Existing Groups

If you've recently started using Spond Club but some of your club’s teams already have existing groups in the Spond app, you can easily import these groups into your club solution. Once imported, the group and its members will appear in Spond Club. From that point on, overall administration, including group settings and group administrator management, will be handled exclusively by club admins in Spond Club.

When a group is imported, all its members will appear under Pending. You'll need to approve these members for them to be included in your active membership list. If you encounter duplicate members in Pending Members after importing, it's crucial to merge them rather than delete them. Deleting will remove their access to the group, while merging keeps it intact.


How to Import a Group to Spond Club

  1. Go to Departments and GroupsImport Group, and send the link to yourself or the group manager of the group you want to import.

  2. The group manager needs to grant access via the link.

  3. After access is granted, the group will appear in the list under Departments and GroupsImport Group. Click on the group to start the import process.

The import consists of three steps: Details, Roles, and Summary.

Step 1: Details

Specify the group's name, the department to place it in, and who should be the contact person. Any changes made here will also be reflected in the Spond app.

Step 2: Roles

The club roles in Spond Club might differ from the old group roles, so you'll need to match them accordingly. Use the dropdown menus to assign the new roles to each group member, replacing the old ones.

  • You can also merge multiple old roles by selecting the same club role in each dropdown.

  • Planning your club roles in advance (e.g., Coach, Assistant, Team Leader) is recommended to ensure consistency across groups.

Step 3: Summary

Review the member list, including who is a regular member and who has been assigned a role. You can make changes to the roles of specific members even after the group and its members have been imported.

How do I start importing a group from the Spond app into Spond Club?

Yes, during the import, you'll be prompted to match the old group roles with your club roles in Spond Club. You can also make changes to member roles after the import is complete by going to the group's settings.

Will group admins notice any changes after the group is imported?

Group admins might notice changes in their permissions, depending on the new roles you assign during the import. Regular members won't notice any changes in how they use the Spond app.
