Setup - Step by step (Without Existing Spond Groups)
Updated over a week ago

This setup is for those who do not have any teams/groups currently using Spond. If any of your teams are already using Spond, you can see how to set it up here. (update link)

First step is to configure the settings

Club Settings

  • Set up member fields: Member fields in Spond Club are standard and custom fields that allow the club to collect and manage important information about members. Member fields give the club the ability to organize and have an overview of member information in a structured and efficient way, tailored to the club’s specific needs.

  • Set up member types: Member types allow you to differentiate between different types of members, such as regular members, supporting members, non-members, junior and senior members. (The member type does not affect what each person can do in the Spond app).

  • Create a membership form: Create a form for joining the club and place it on your website or other relevant places. Read more about creating a membership form here.

  • Group Settings: Here you can set general settings that apply to all groups in the club. You can decide the visibility of contact information, the age limit for direct messaging, and whether private accounts can be used as a payment method.

  • Group Roles: Review and edit group roles for admins.

Departments and Groups

"Create Group"
We recommend one group per team/group. You can also create subgroups within each group. Read more about the different meanings of groups, subgroups, and departments here.

Import Members
You can import members using our Excel template. You can download it by clicking the "Download Excel Template" button. When you open the template, you will see that it has two tabs, one of which is called "Validation Rules." Here you will see which parameters you can fill in, such as member type, group, gender, etc. What is entered in these fields must match what is stated in the validation rules tab. Remember to add a group admin to each group (coaches/instructors).

When you are done filling out the template in Excel, save it and upload it by clicking the "Upload Completed Member List (Excel)" button.

💡 Tip

  • The template must be opened in Microsoft Excel, and you cannot move or add columns.

  • It is important that you download the template again every time you need to import members.

  • If you are creating groups, group roles, and custom member fields, this should be done before downloading the Excel template, as they will be included in the validation rules."
