Inviting members to groups in Spond is a great way to bring people together and keep everyone informed. It's a simple process that only takes a few moments. Inviting people to Spond groups facilitates better communication, easy organisation of events and quick sharing of important information.


How to invite members to a group

To invite new members to a group, you've several simple options. You can share the group link directly with the prospective member or give the person the group code for signing up in the Spond app. Member management can also be done manually in the app/web version below. Another flexible method is to invite members by importing from Excel or Google Docs.

How to invite members using a group link


App

  1. Open the app

  2. Groups

  3. Select the required group

  4. Select the button with the number of members

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and press Invite to group with link. If the group link is not activated, you'll be asked to activate it first

  6. Select the link to copy it or preview the page the member will see when they enter the link

  7. Below the link, you'll see a list of apps you can share the link through, e.g. SMS, email, Facebook, WhatsApp etc.

Web

  1. Log in to your Spond profile here

  2. Select the required group

  3. Members

  4. In the side menu to the right under Invite to group with link, you can select Activate group link (if not already activated)

  5. Select the entire group link and copy it

  6. Share it with the person you're inviting

  • App: 1 - 5, the last 5 letters in the link are the group code

  • Web: 1 - 4, the last 5 letters in the link are the group code

How to add a new member manually


App

  1. Open the app

  2. Groups

  3. Select the required group

  4. Select the button with the number of members

  5. To add a member, Select Add member at the top of the member list (iPhone). Select the icon of the person with the ➕ sign (Android)

  6. If the age group in your group is set to children/youth or mixed, you'll be able to choose whether to add a member with or without a guardian

  7. Fill in the fields and press Save

    Once this has been done, the member will be sent a link to authorise the membership. This must be done before the member can access the group.

Web

  1. Log in to your Spond profile here

  2. Select the required group

  3. Members

  4. Add to

  5. If the age group in your group is set to children/youth or mixed, you'll be able to choose whether to add a member with or without a guardian

  6. Fill in the fields and select Save

    Once this has been done, the member will be sent a link to authorise the membership. This must be done before the member can access the group.

How to import members from Excel or Google Docs (web version only)

  1. Log in to your Spond profile here

  2. Select the required group

  3. Members

  4. In the side menu to the right under Import from Excel or Google Docs click Import members

  5. Follow the instructions

  6. Select Import


New members added to a group from Spond Club

If your group is part of a Spond Club setup and an admin in Spond Club has added a member to the group via Spond Club, you'll see a box with the heading New members in the side menu on the right when you are in the group and on members (web version). At the top of the member list (app).

If you select the browse button, you'll receive a list of those who have been added to the current group via Spond Club. Select the name of each member if you want to review their information or add them to subgroups.


If you select approve, you'll be able to add the member to events. If you do not want to add anyone to existing events, you can approve all members at the same time.

  1. Open the app

  2. Groups

  3. Select your required group

  4. Select the button with the number of subgroups

  5. Select subgroup

  6. Select the button with the number of members

  7. Select the button Add member (iPhone) / Select the button with the icon of a person and➕ sign at the bottom right (Android)

  8. Either add a new member (will also be added to the main group) or select a member from the main group

Web

  1. Log in to your Spond profile here

  2. Select the required group

  3. Under the main group name in the left side menu, select the name of the subgroup

  4. Members

  5. Select the button Add to cart

  6. Either add a new member (will also be added to the main group) or select a member from the main group
